Ffurious defends St Mary on ‘Rasta Goodness’

Dancehall artiste Ffurious is not pleased about the way his home parish of St Mary has been portrayed as the Mecca of obeah in several songs.

"I don't love the songs that some artistes are singing about my parish, St Mary is where I am from. It's one of the most peaceful little parishes in Jamaica. It is also a place where many great reggae and dancehall icons come from, including Capleton, Beres Hammond and Lady Saw. Why didn't they sing about that? Why sing about the negatives and not the positive?" he questioned.

"As a Rastaman, I don't deal with negativity; I put a fire on anything that's unclean. Rasta deals with consciousness and we are not here to lead the youths down the wrong path. Righteousness is the ultimate," he added.

The entertainer, who is a protege of dancehall legend Capleton, is currently promoting his latest single, Rasta Goodness. The song, which was produced by Kanpe Tof Record/Greatxproductions, was released in April.

"I'm pleased with the response that this single is receiving; it's getting a lot of support from DJs all over the globe, and it's also gaining traction in the streets. The music video for it was released last month and it's streaming well on YouTube," said Ffurious.

The hard-working entertainer is also promoting a single titled Going Up.
