20 new COVID cases, one additional death

A 50-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew is the latest Jamaican to die as a result of COVID-19, moving the death tally to 989.

Meanwhile, of the 2,417 samples tested on Wednesday, 20 returned positive results, increasing total confirmed cases to 49,110 with 20,733 active.

Of the new cases, 13 are women and 7 are men.

The country's positivity rate now stands at 2.9%.

In the meantime, there were 185 more recoveries, increasing the total to 27,013.

Some 156 persons are in hospital with 26 being moderately ill and nine critically ill.
