Crooks clean out man’s house

More than $1 million worth of appliances, jewellery, cash and household items were stolen from the house of a Corporate Area man, mere hours after he locked his house and departed for work.

The culprit/s broke into the house on March 16 and removed a safe valued at $22,000. It contained a tri-gold wedding ring valued at $150,000, passports and birth certificate, three car titles and $160,000 in cash.

Other items stolen from the house include three pairs of shoes valued at $60,000, five bottles of cologne valued at $120,000, a LG 55-inch television valued at $130,000, a Samsung 43-inch television valued at $113,000 and another LG 43-inch television valued at $81,700.

In addition, three laptops of a total cost of $145,000 were stolen, as well as a silver Energizer car jumper valued at $13,000, a white Lasco 18' rotating fan which cost $12,000, a Duracell charger set valued at $6500, a Kipxtreme Bluetooth speaker and a Skullcandy Bluetooth headset totalling $31,000 were stolen.

Police recovered the 55-inch television in the possession of Odane Smith and charged him with housebreaking and larceny, and receiving stolen property.

When cautioned by the police, he reportedly said: "Bossy, me nuh broke nuh one place. A get me get it yuh know, a di red bwoy yuh fi go fah, him only give me the TV."

NOT GUILTY

He pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday.

Senior Parish Judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague remanded Smith in custody as she requested that his police records be made available on May 10.

He was also made the subject of a fingerprint order and it is expected that on that date, a bail application will be heard.
