Homes flooded in Linstead
Heavy rainfall from Hurricane Ian continues to affect residents in a section of Deeside, Linstead in St Catherine, were several houses have been flooded.
Residents of Programmes Lane in Deeside, told The STAR that this is the worst the community has been affected in over 34 years.
"Right now we are just trying to sweep out the water, but it keeps flooding as the rains continues," Melvis Greenwood, a resident said.
It was revealed that the problem has worsened due to the need for a retaining wall on an adjacent property.
“We need for urgent attention as in addition to the wall, the pond that usually collected the water from a run-off is being blocked by concrete fences, therefore the problems multiplies," another resident said.
The community in which the Dinthill Technical High School is located, has been suffering from natural disasters for decades.
