An ex-soldier was caught on the wrong side of the law early Wednesday morning after cops allegedly found him with an illegal gun inside a bar on Red Hills Road, St Andrew.

Reports are that about 12:18 a.m., a team from the St Andrew North Police Division went to the bar, located in the Park Lane area, when the man reportedly drew their attention.

He was accosted, searched, and the police allegedly found a Black Smith & Wesson CZP-10C pistol tucked in his waistband.

The former Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) member was arrested on the spot and remains in custody pending charges.

Head of the St Andrew North Police, Superintendent Randy Sweeney, confirmed the arrest, noting that this latest seizure brings the total number of illegal guns recovered in the division to 55 since the start of the year.

"We are appealing to anyone with information about illegal firearms, ammunition, or criminal suspects to contact the police at 119 or the Constant Spring Police Station at 876-924-1421," Superintendent Sweeney said.
