Winners won’t come easy in Reggae 6

SATURDAY's Reggae 6 won't be a stroll in the park for form players, most races requiring at least two selections, leaving little room for consideration of a banker to keep the outlay in check, especially with the January squeeze being felt in bettors' pockets.

Last Saturday's $11,891 payout should be eclipsed this weekend as punters chase a single-winner bonus of $6.3m, a payout which would erase all January blues.

Be bold and start with a banker, NATURAL DANCER returning off the claim at six furlongs among $1m claimers after beating the level at six and a half furlongs on October 20.

NATURAL DANCER's main threat should be United States-bred FLYBLUEJET, who placed second on a $1.5m tag behind JAMES at five furlongs round, landing the race immediately after NATURAL DANCER held off AWESOME ANTHONY to win at a lower level.

Whereas NATURAL DANCER hasn't raced since, patiently programmed for her return by Oneil Markland, FLYBLUEJET raced on three occasions before being aimed down in class for Saturday's Reggae 6 opener.

However, it should be noted that FLYBLUEJET finished sixth behind up-in-class WARSAW on December 20, ambushed by the speedster who NATURAL DANCER had chased off the lead when winning back in October.

NATURAL DANCER's speed at six furlongs could leave FLYBLUEJET flat-footed on the turns with too much ground to make up in the stretch run.

The second event for three-year-old maidens requires at least three selections, debutants EXCEEDING BEYOND and MULLIGAN MAN, both foreigners having impressed at exercise. COMUNA TRECE has experience and should not be left out.

Go three-deep in the third with local-bred maidens - BIGGER BOSS, LONDON SPIRIT and MO PAI - three-year-olds stretched out at seven furlongs in an uncertain pace.

ROARING KITTY and BENEISON are the stayers at nine furlongs and 25 yards in the fourth, making it hard to separate the closers.

Take no chances with the fifth by going with TUTS, MUSKETOON, course-specialist BASILICUS and speedy OKOYE WARRIOR at five furlongs straight.

Close with three selections - LAST DANCE, PHENOMENAL ONE and COALITION - a $350,000 claiming event at five furlongs straight in which soundness trumps form.
