Man charged for cruelty to animal
A domestic dispute between neighbours resulted in a dog being slapped with a machete during the melee, the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court heard on Thursday.
It is alleged that on February 11, the complainant and her neighbour, the accused Sharlon Ingram, were involved in a verbal and physical altercation. During the altercation, the complainant's dog started barking when Ingram used a machete to slap the animal.
He was subsequently charged with assault at common law and cruelty to animal. He pleaded not guilty on both counts before Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque.
Before the matter was adjourned, Ingram was warned not to have contact or communication with the complainant.
Ingram is to return to court on May 1.
