Petrojam assures that products will not be interrupted following fire
State-owned oil company, Petrojam, says it is conducting a thorough assessment to determine the extent of the damage caused by a fire at one of its plants on Tuesday night. There were no reports of injuries.
In a statement, Petrojam said the blaze start shortly after 7:00 p.m. and that its team acted swiftly to initiate emergency protocols and successfully brought the situation under control.
“To ensure the safety of our personnel and prevent further escalation, we have made the decision to temporarily take the affected plant offline,” the company said, adding “cooling operations are currently underway to expedite the process and restore normalcy as soon as possible”.
It said that “as investigations continue and damage assessments progress, we will provide timely updates to keep our stakeholders informed”.
Petrojam has sought to re-assure consumers that it maintains a substantial reserve of products ensuring an uninterrupted supply to meet market demands.
“We understand the concern that this incident may raise for our valued customers and stakeholders.
